He has always been touched by the mysteries of nature and was impressed by how the people's strength allowed them to persevere in the severe weather. As a young man, he loved singing and working in the mountains and was moved by the birch trees struggling in the wind, or the winter jasmine blooming in the snow. In 1976 a famous artist came to his hometown for plein aire painting. That opened the window for Raymond to the world of art. He followed him everywhere, and decided he wanted to be an artist, to express life through painting. Since becoming an artist, he has learned to combine Western and Eastern techniques of painting. Initially, he painted mostly in a realistic style, while now he expresses his feelings in his paintings in a more abstract form. Formal Studies commenced in 1998 under the Chinese Artist Zhang, Qinnuo. Raymond has now graduated from the Central Art Academy of Beijing in 2001.
